How to Enable Cookies
To enable cookies, follow the instructions below for the browser version you are using.
Mozilla Firefox (1.0 final release and earlier)
- Go to the "Tools" menu.
- Select "Options".
- Select the "Privacy" icon in the left panel.
- Check the box corresponding to "Allow sites to set cookies".
- Click "OK" to save changes.
Netscape 7.1/Mozilla 5.0
- Select "Preferences" from the Edit menu.
- Click on the arrow next to "Privacy & Security" in the scrolling window to expand.
- Under "Privacy & Security", select "Cookies."
- Select "Enable all cookies".
- Click "OK".
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0+
- Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu.
- Click on the "Privacy" tab.
- Click the "Default" button (or manually slide the bar down to "Medium") under "Settings".
- Click "OK".
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x
- Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu.
- Click on the "Security" tab.
- Click the "Custom Level" button.
- Scroll down to the "Cookies" section.
- To enable:
- Set "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" to "Enable".
- Set "Allow per-session cookies" to "Enable".
- Click "OK".
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x
- Select "Internet Options" from the View menu.
- Click on the "Advanced" tab.
- Scroll down to find "Cookies" within the "Security" section.
- To enable:
- Select "Always accept cookies".
- Click "OK".
Netscape Communicator 4.x
- Select "Preferences" from the Edit menu.
- Find the "Cookies" section in the "Advanced" category.
- To enable:
- Select "Accept all cookies" (or "Enable all cookies").
- Click "OK".
FireFox 1.5.0.1
- From the Menu Bar, choose "Tools"
- Choose "Options"
- Click on the "Privacy" icon
- Click on the "Cookies" tab
- Be sure there is a check in the box beside "allow sites to set cookies"
FireFox 1.0
- From the Menu Bar, choose "Tools"
- Choose "Options"
- Choose "Privacy"
- Click on the "+" sign to open the Cookie folder
- Make sure there is a check mark in the "allow sites to set cookies" box
- Click "OK"
Mozilla 1.7
- From the Menu Bar, choose "Tools"
- Choose "Cookie Manager"
- Be sure that "Use Default Cookie Permissions" has a bullet beside it
- If it does not, then click beside this option
- If successful, you will see a confirmation message
Netscape 7.1
- Verify that your browser is at the K-State Libraries Home Page: http://www.lib.ksu.edu
- From the Menu Bar, choose "Tools"
- Choose "Cookie Manager"
- Make sure "Unblock cookies from this site" is greyed out
- If it is not, then choose "Block cookies from this site"
- If successful, you will see a confirmation message
Netscape Browser 8.0 or later
- In Netscape Browser, click Options on the Tools menu.
- Click the Site Controls icon.
- Tick Allow cookies.
- Click OK.
Opera 8.0 or later
- In Opera, open the Quick preferences menu on the Tools menu.
- If Enable cookies is not already ticked then tick Enable cookies on the Quick preferences menu.
Opera 7.x
- In Opera, click Preferences on the File menu.
- Click Privacy.
- Tick Enable cookies.
- Select Automatically accept all cookies.
- Select Accept from all servers.
- Click OK.
Mac IE 5.x
- Click Edit
- Select Preferences
- Under the Receiving Files option, select Cookies
- Under "When receiving cookies:" select the desired level of cookie acceptance
- Under "When receiving cookies:" select the desired level of cookie acceptance
- Click OK to finish
Mac IE 4.x
- Go to My AOL on the menu bar
- Pick WWW
- Go to the Advanced Settings option on the Category menu
- Click "Cookies"
- When receiving cookies: Click "Never Ask"
- Click OK
AOL 9.0
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
- Select Internet [Web] Options
- Select Use your Internet Explorer Settings to set advanced browser options.
- Select the Privacy tab
- Select Advanced
- Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
- Click OK to exit.
AOL 8.0
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
- Select Preferences
- Select Internet Properties (WWW)
- Select the Privacy tab
- Select Advanced
- Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
- Click OK to exit.
AOL 7.0 with IE 6.x
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
- Select Preferences
- Select Internet Properties (WWW)
- Select the Privacy tab
- Select Advanced
- Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
- Click OK to exit.
AOL 7.0 with IE 5.5
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
- Select Preferences
- Select Internet Properties (WWW)
- Select the Security tab
- Select the Custom Level tab
- Under "Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer" click "Enable"
- Under "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)" click "Enable"
- Select OK, Yes you want to save the settings
AOL 6.0
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings
- Select Preferences
- Select Internet Properties (WWW)
- Select the Security tab
- Select the Custom Level tab
- Under "Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer" click "Enable"
- Under "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)" click "Enable"
- Select OK, Yes you want to save the settings
AOL 5.0
- Go to My AOL
- Pick WWW
- Click the Security tab
- Go to Custom Level
- Scroll down to find Cookie
- Click "Enable"
- Click OK
AOL 4.0
- Click on Preferences
- Select on the WWW button
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Select the "Accept all cookies" checkbox
